The Write Place

Finally my little study nook is back to normal! It took a lot of effort (and more than a few runs of the Wiggles DVD to keep BT entertained!) but I can finally sit down in my study and write again.
For a writer, or at least for me, having a comfortable, easy place to write is paramount. For a while there I was having to write in the dining room, which wasn't too bad because that is where the heater is, but I really like having my own little space where I can go to write.
So, here it is...

It doesn't look like much, I know, but it's good enough for me. You can see on the left my new white book case and I've put some jonquils in a small vase in here to help mask the paint smell! There's my little laptop on its table on the right and my notebook and diary are on the old sewing table (and yes, there is an old sewing maching underneath there!!)
I love that I can look out my window while I'm writing. Either blue, sunny skies (like today - HALLELUJAH!) or grey, rainy days are inspiring for me.

The rest of this little room is filled with books - I love it! All around me are books. There are another three bookcases chock a block with all kinds of books - fiction, non-fiction, cooking, history, language, textbooks - you name it GH and I have collected it!

There's also a filing cabinet filled with my languages stuff - worksheets I've created for teaching Spanish and Italian. I really need to go through it; I'm sure there are multitples in there that can be recycled to make more space. I keep everything!

I even have an old box of journals. Page after page filled with attempted poetry, musings (Jack Kerouac style :) ), pictures, ideas etc. Sometimes I go through and see what was agonising me in 1998 (I was a very angsty teenager!!) and have a smile. I think it's great to keep stuff like this and look over it. Heaven forbid it should ever get into anyone else's hands though!!

I've always enjoyed writing. Journals, poetry, short stories, you name it. I have never studied it though; it's always been more of a hobby. I know I promised some of my story to be put on here but I'm not too sure to do with the whole copyright thing. But I'll ask my sister (she works in magazines), maybe she'll know.

Anyway, that's all for now. My swanky Oroton diary (courtesy of aforementioned sister - lots of great freebies when you work in that industry!!) tells me that I have to finish my chapter on Ferrara today. (I need a to do list or nothing ever gets done!!)

Keep writing, KV-ettes!!

Bacci xx
