Uriarra Crossing

This New Year's Day- for the second year in a row - we have cooled our boots by going out to Uriarra. About a thirty minute drive from here the enormous site is part of the Uriarra State Forest and rests on the Murrumbidgee River.

Having grown up on the coast I've had a bit of trouble dealing with river water, it is brown after all, which completely goes all my instincts, but I think I'm coming around. Plus the kids love it. And it's free.

Here are some pics of our time there this year and last.

 The Rapids

This year we had fun racing a massive thunder storm home. It was right on our tail!

Storm, you say??? What storm??

Ohhhhh!!!!!!!

You can't really tell in this shot but the tower had sheets of rain over the top of it!

The best thing about Uriarra is that we can pack some picnic dinner and head there after the crazy heat of the day and have a dip and some yummy food. Just make sure you bring your thongs, cause the rocks and brittle leaves can really do some damage!!

Happy 2012! Hope your year is full of all things lovely
